The first issue of the English edition of Moscow-based ‘Baku’ magazine was presented in London, October 4.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Magazine`s Editor-in-Chief Leyla Aliyeva attended the ceremony of presentation.

Well-known public-political figures of London were present in the event held near Piccadilly.

Videos on Azerbaijan and photographs taken by Tom Craig and Giles Price were presented in the ceremony.

The English edition of ‘Baku’ will familiarize English-speaking readers with Azerbaijan`s ancient culture, history and traditions, as well its modern life, large tourist opportunities, international image, projects implemented in the country.

The English edition of the Magazine is published by the Condé Nast Publishing House. Besides the United Kingdom, the Magazine will be available in other countries, including France, the United States and Italy.

Successes of the Russian edition of the Magazine guarantee that the English edition will also receive a warm welcome from readers.

Speaking to the ceremony, Condé Nast Managing Director Nicholas Coleridge said ‘Baku’ magazine was a very successful project. He said the Magazine will contribute to better promoting Azerbaijan in Europe.

The Publishing House that cooperates with successful brands only is confident that the project will be a success, since a quite different publication gets to the global market on the basis of the experience of the world-famous company and the creative approach by Leyla Aliyeva, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation VP, Chief Editor of ‘Baku’ magazine.

Welcoming the guests, Mrs Aliyeva said the dream of creating the international edition of the Magazine, which was published in Moscow 4 years ago, has now come true.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Magazine said from this day on the Magazine is going on sale in London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Rome and other big cities.

Talking of the sights and favorite places in Baku and works underway to have it more beautiful, Mrs Aliyeva said Baku is one of the most rapidly developing cities in the world.

She noted the Magazine features all positive changes in Azerbaijan`s capital.

 ‘I believe the Magazine will help us show the beauties and rich cultural traditions of our capital city, where the past meets with the present and West meets with East. It will contain articles on art, history, music, fashion, architecture and most important on the amazing nation. It also features photos taken by famous photographers and I am very glad to see some of them here. I believe ‘Baku’ magazine will have its worthy place among readers in every point of the world. And particularly here in London, one of the most magnificent cities worldwide.’ said Mrs Aliyeva.

On Baku`s hosting next year`s Eurovision Song Contest, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Vice-President said ‘it will be a brilliant opportunity to get familiarized with our capital.’

Leyla Aliyeva expressed gratitude to the staff of the Magazine.

Attendees in the ceremony expressed hope the need and interest for the English edition of ‘Baku’ will be rising day by day.

UK Business Ambassador, Lady Barbara Judge said the Magazine will help make Azerbaijan more known to the international reader. She said Azerbaijan is a country of a specific beauty, rich culture, natural resources and huge influence. ‘The Magazine will also contribute to strengthening the relations between United Kingdom and Azerbaijan.’

GQ Magazine Deputy Editor Bill Prince said: ‘‘Baku’ magazine is great. It provides much more information on Azerbaijan. And famous persons working on the publication make it more significant. I think, this magazine will have wide readership in London. It will more comprehensively introduce Baku and Azerbaijan to the London readers.’

Wife of Russian footballer Andrei Arshavin, Yulia Arshavina said: ‘I find it very courageous and positive step, as the Magazine is read a lot because of the content and materials inside. I saw that the Magazine was of a great interest in the presentation ceremony too. I know that Baku will be hosting Eurovision contest next year, and everybody is wondering which mysterious place will host the next contest. I think, the Magazine will be loved and known for the short time. I wish it sincerely and believe in this, because the publication promotes the country’s culture, informs of Azerbaijan and your capital. And this is very necessary. I wish success to ‘Baku’ magazine.’

The English edition of ‘Baku’ magazine will assist to the promotion of Azerbaijan and Baku all over the world on the new level. The Magazine will be published once a quarter.

The Magazine will also function as a guide in the world of trends across the world. It will feature interesting materials on art, works by famous art photographers as well.
