Family values are deep-rooted in Azerbaijan, and have been passed down from generation to generation since time immemorial. Care of youngsters, and respect for the elderly are cherished traditions in our country.
On the 5th of April the “Leaf Of Paper For A Tree-Leaf” Project came to a close. The project was set up with the joint administrative support of IDEA (International Dialogue For Environmental Action), of which Mrs Leyla Aliyeva is the Vice-President; "ASAN service"; and Joint-Stock Company 'Tamiz Şəhər'.
During the project, which kicked off on 3rd February, outlets of "ASAN service" located in Baku took part in a promotion for collecting recycled paper and paper-related products. Each 50 kilograms of waste paper was rated as one tree. In total, seventy-eight thousand, eight hundred and ten kilograms of recyclable paper materials were collected in during the three months of the project – and in turn, one thousand, five hundred and seventy-six tree saplings were planted.
The grand finale of the project took place on 5th April, with the participation of members of the government - including the Ministry of the Economy & Industry, which threw itself behind the project, alongside countless private individuals and companies – there was a ceremonial tree-planting, held at the Balakhani Landfill Waste Reprocessing.
As a result of the project, five thousand square metres of land at the Balakhani Landfill site were turned over to creating a green park zone.
