Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix, one of the world’s most prestigious sports competitions, came successfully to the end, June 25.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members watched the opening ceremony and the finals of the 8th phase of the Formula-1 world championship.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized themselves with the conditions created in the control centre of the competitions set up on the Azadlyg Square of the capital.

A grandiose opening ceremony of the Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix took place on the capital’s Azadlyg Square.

After the state anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, the Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix started.

The Baku track is 6 kilometres long, with the total distance being 306 kilometres. Pilots have made 51 turns on the track, with 20 sharp turns. The widest section of the track was 13 metres, with the narrowest section being 7.6 metres around Icherisheher, including those at the 7th and 8thturns.

Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix in Baku was launched on June 23. On the first day of the competitions, the pilots tried their strength at two free marches on the Baku circuit. At the first free march, Max Verstappen, a pilot of the Red Bull Racing team, was first.

On June 24 too, fans of the Furmula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix witnessed an interesting sports competition. After this tournament, the starting order of the Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix was determined.

Daniel Riccardo, a member of the Red Bull Racing team, was the winner of the Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix. The pilot overcame the distance for 2 hours, 3 minutes and 55 seconds. The second place went to Valtteri Bottas, a member of the Mercedes team. Lance Stroll from Canada, a pilot of the Williams team, took the third place. Red Bull Racing team was the owner of the constructors’ cup.

State anthems of Austria and Azerbaijan were played in honour of the winner.

Then, awards were presented to the winners.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev presented the cup to Daniel Riccardo, the champion of the Formula-1 Azerbaijani Grand-Prix.

The constructors’ cup was presented to the representative of the Red Bull Racing team by Mehriban Aliyeva.

The cup to the winner of the second place, Valtteri Bottas, a pilot of the Mercedes team, was presented by Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, while President of the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation Anar Alakbarov presented the cup of the third place to Lance Stroll, a pilot of the Williams team.
